    Florence (Italian: Firenze, Old Italian: Fiorenza, Latin: Florentia) is the capital city of the Italian region of Tuscany, and of the province of Florence. It is the most populous city in Tuscany and has a population of approximately 364,779.

    The city lies on the Arno River and is known for its history and its importance in the Middle Ages and in the Renaissance, especially for its art and architecture. A centre of medieval European trade and finance, the city is often considered the birthplace of the Italian Renaissance; in fact, it has been called the Athens of the Middle Ages.[1] It was long under the de facto rule of the Medici family. From 1865 to 1870 the city was also the capital of the Kingdom of Italy.

Filled with inspiring gothic churches and wonderful stone buildings, walking the quiet cobbled lanes gives the feeling of going back in time.

    Finns Fly Fishing, New ZealandThese photographs were taken by Finn Stinson, operator of “FINNS” fly-fishing guide service out of Christchurch, New Zealand, which specializes in fishing for brown trout and salmon. Finn and his brother Ru were world class fly fisherman who had fished in New England, Argentina, Alaska, British Columbia, Australia, New Zealand, the Pacific Islands and countless small streams and river all over the world. The brothers tragically passed away in 2004 in a single car accident while traveling back to Alaska after fishing for Steelhead Trout on the Babine River in British Columbia. They are sorely missed by their numerous friends around the world.

It lies to the northwest of Continental Europe, with Ireland to the west, and makes up the largest part of the territory of the country known as the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. It is surrounded by over 1,000 smaller islands and islets.
